The Prosthetic and Orthotics Association of British Columbia (POABC) has been the provincial association for British Columbia since 1974. We represent Prosthetist and Orthotist practitioners, P&O technicians, students and facility owners/managers. We believe that promoting awareness is a vital component of providing exceptional one-one clinical care. In order to receive appropriate care, clients must understand the services available to British Columbian residents. Many people in our community require prosthetic and orthotic treatment due to limb loss or physical impairments.
The POABC strives to offer patients high-quality care from the beginning of the treatment process. We provide patient assessments, fittings and long-term follow-up care and solutions tailored to each individual patient. POABC is constantly striving to improve our treatment programs, professional expertise and educational standards. We strongly believe in advocating for our patients and providing the highest quality of life by taking an active role in provincial funding, education and research.
POABC is well-known and our services are recognized and valued by clients, allied health professionals, paying agencies and the general public. BC residents can get their primary devices fully funded at fair and up to date reimbursement. All P&O professionals in BC are involved and engaged members of POABC. POABC has full-time paid staff to manage the association and drive our initiatives forward.
We are motivated health care professionals that care about our field and the people we treat. We serve our members, alongside our clients, through collaboration, education and advocacy. This helps us to increase awareness of our field, raise awareness around mobility issues, and improve access to funding for clients at fair reimbursement rates.
